Congratulations to the Wellington College IB students who had good reason to celebrate their IB diploma results on Wednesday. The 118 IB students, who make up 50% of the sixth form cohort, achieved a stunning set of results across the board. With an average score of 40.9, nine students scoring a maximum 45 points, and 84 achieving 40 points or more, the Wellington pupils achieved the College’s best Results Day performance on record.

James Dahl, the Master of Wellington, congratulated them saying:

“For a group who had never had the chance to take public exams before, these results are truly astounding – I am so proud of them all.”

Deputy Head Academic, Benjamin Evans, said:

“These results are testament to the hard work and ability of pupils and the dedication of the teachers that have supported them throughout their educational journey. There are success stories throughout the achievement range, not just amongst the highest scores, and we are pleased with the strong scores in core disciplines of Mathematics and English. It is worth remembering that due to the pandemic these were the first public exams since 2019, so to achieve these results is particularly noteworthy. We now turn our attention to the A Level and GCSE results, released on the 18 and 25 August, respectively.”
