Thank you to all the teams who attended our annual Prep School Rugby Festival.
It’s a privilege to host so many wonderful schools and for the festival to keep its reputation as being one of the most well attended events of its kind.
Master James Dahl opened the event by saying:
“Our annual Prep School Rugby Festival has been a key feature in the sporting calendar for many years now and I can still remember watching a number of the College’s current 1st XV as U11 prep school boys back in 2015 – long may it last!
Sport is such an integral part of prep school and Wellington life. The power which sport has to transform the lives and character of young people is huge. Sport teaches us how to lose well, how to win with humility, how there are no short-cuts to success, how to be an individual whilst also contributing to a team, how to lead and be led, how to bounce back from adversity, how to respect authority yet move on when a perceived injustice has occurred. The list goes on but, at its core, sport teaches us about life and about how to live well.”
Dan Pratt, Director of Sport commented on the day:
“The Wellington College U11 Prep School Rugby Festival is an absolute highlight of our rugby calendar. This year was no different and as ever there was some fantastic rugby, skill and athleticism on display, not to ignore that all of this was done with great sporting behaviour throughout too, plus the sun shined for a little while! As a festival there was no overall victor, but instead we had 12 teams in attendance who we hope all had a brilliant rugby experience, and we thank everyone who allow such events to take place.”
