In order to best prepare our pupils for the possibility of further education in the US, the College has put in place a support structure unrivalled in UK schools. In addition to weekly office hours, our specialist team of US counsellors offer online 1-2-1 advising, giving any Wellingtonian who is thinking about applying to US institutions a regular opportunity to discuss any aspect of the process, from short-listing to personal statement and essay drafting, plus support with finance discussion and scholarships which might be available. Just as importantly, Wellington offers students an annual SAT and ACT preparation course to equip potential candidates with all the skills and support they might need for this element of the process. The College is a registered SAT testing centre which means that our pupils can complete every single aspect of the application procedure without ever leaving Wellington.
Each October, Wellingtonians are able to spend a week in the US on an intense programme of College visits, alternating annually from New England (based around Boston) to the Mid-Atlantic states (based around New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC). We also host visiting admissions officers at Wellington every September with talks in recent years from Yale, University of Chicago, Boston College, Emory and the University of Southern California.
US universities at which Wellingtonians were offered places last year: Harvard, Cornell, University of Chicago, Columbia, NYU, Berkeley and UVA amongst many others.
