For over three decades, the Chemistry Spectacular has been the highlight of the scientific calendar, where explosions are encouraged, fireballs are expected, and no one leaves without a new appreciation for the periodic table. Every year, the goal is simple to ignite curiosity, inspire young scientists, and prove that chemistry isn’t just a subject, but a full-blown experience.

With jaw-dropping demonstrations, unexpected bangs, and just the right amount of controlled chaos, the Chemistry team once again delivered a show to remember. Old favourites, like the infamous Barking Dog reaction, returned to delight audiences, while new large-scale experiments ensured even those at the very back got a front-row view of the magic of science.

But none of this would be possible without the incredible team behind the spectacle. Dr O’Loughlin, Caroline Evans, and the entire Chemistry Department continue to go above and beyond to ignite a love of science in every student. Their dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm for making chemistry unforgettable make this event a true masterpiece of education and entertainment.

Here’s to another 30 years of lighting up imaginations both figuratively and, occasionally, quite literally!
