Wellington College congratulates the 2023 leavers for their pleasing IB results. 116 students, our second largest cohort ever, completed a full suite of papers for the first time since 2019 and this year also marked a return to pre-pandemic grading.
Wellington pupils initially secured a mean diploma score of 38.1, a figure which will undoubtedly rise in the weeks ahead as re-marks are processed. Almost 50 pupils scored 40 points or more – the equivalent of A*A*A*A* at A-Level – and over half the cohort (of 116) scored 39 or above. Special congratulations go to Annabel Pidgley, who scored a perfect 45 points, one of only 25 pupils nationwide to do so.
When one considers these were the first public examinations taken by these pupils and that they were taught on-line for much of their middle schooling, the achievement becomes even more notable.
As always, there are success stories throughout the data, and we will observe with interest the varied paths taken by our 2023 Old Wellingtonians. We are proud of them all.
