Wellington College Jazz Club

On Friday 13 January the Old Gym was transformed into Wellington’s very own version of Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. Students were joined by jazz superstar and founder of ‘Women in Jazz’, Hannah Horton who ran an improvisation masterclass during the afternoon and coached the Big Band for the event.

The Wellington College Big Band brought its most swinging tunes to the fore as they presented a programme of traditional and modern jazz and big band numbers staring guest vocalists, Tiggy C (U6), Eloise H (U6) , Naomi T (U6) and Jessica R (L6). Tara R (L6) performed various solos on drumkit, including a magnificent performance of Neal Hefti’s Cute. The event held a silent auction and raffle in aid of the Wellington College Arts Fund organised by the Music Department Parents’ Committee. The event as a whole raised a staggering £4,000 for the Art Fund.
