While it may be true that academic League Tables don’t always give the full picture of a school’s performance, Wellington College had good reason to be happy when the Sunday Times published its annual Parent Power educational supplement this weekend. The supplement, which includes the most comprehensive set of league tables comparing the examination results of all UK Schools in 2023, is generally regarded as the litmus test for all senior schools

The GCSE, A-level and IB results which Wellingtonians secured over the summer have placed Wellington College as 26th overall in the UK, and in the top 5 of all boarding schools, the highest position that Wellington has ever reached in the school’s history.

James Dahl, Master of Wellington College says:

“We want to give huge recognition to our Class of 2023 whose academic achievements and hard work we celebrate whole-heartedly.  This ranking is a superb reflection on our pupils and the quality of teaching and curriculum at Wellington College.  World class academic provision is central to our ethos, but every bit as important is the character growth instilled via our Co-curricular and Global Citizenship programmes, and our on-going focus on wellbeing.  At Wellington it will never be a case of ‘either / or’.  We will always strive to ensure that it is a case of ‘both / and”

So while Wellington parents know that their children are enjoying the very best levels of pastoral care, and the superb facilities for sport, art, dance, drama and music, they can rest easy in the knowledge that they are also being intellectually stretched and nurtured on the academic front.
