Wellington has won ‘Awesome Sixth Form’ at Muddy Stiletto’s Best Schools Awards 2024 in association with Debrett’s Education.  We were delighted to also be finalists in the ‘Dynamic Performing Arts’ category for our whole-school production of Les Miserables and the outstanding fundraising work of the Wellington College Arts Fund.

The awards were judged by a team of sixteen educational experts, practitioners and journalists with hundreds of schools taking part across 13 categories, showcasing the best in modern, holistic education.

Our win for Awesome Sixth Form was in recognition of the opportunities and independence that Wellington’s sixth form provision provides to 16-18 year olds, the huge range of co-curricular opportunities on offer as well as the pastoral care and robust support that prepare pupils for a fulfilling Life Beyond Wellington.

Wellington welcomes up to 65 new pupils into the Lower Sixth each year. This includes up to 10 Prince Albert Foundation fully-funded scholars and around 20-25 new international students. We are unusual in offering both A-Levels and International Baccalaureate with a 50/50 split among pupils and an exceptionally wide range of subject choices.  We have 150 active clubs and societies and over 25 different sports played, with national and international success.  The College holds the Artsmark Platinum Award, houses a West End-standard theatre and each week up to 1,000 music and LAMDA lessons take place.

Already ‘awesome’, sixth form at Wellington is about to get even better. A new Sixth Form Centre and Sixth Form House are opening in September 2024 with the Centre providing an uplifting, sociable environment more akin to the university experience. It will house a café, seating and event spaces, a library, working areas and a careers department.  The new Sixth Form House will provide co-ed boarding and day places for around 30 boys and 40 girls.

“we are a sixth form that supports the individual paths and goals of every student, reaching academic highs, but also triumphing in many other disciplines. We are on the brink of some really exciting developments this year, with our new co-ed sixth form boarding house and the new sixth form centre, so I am very proud that our work and focus has been recognised.”
