The Wellington College Wellbeing Festival, an annual event that has become a highlight of the year, recently took place on 23 and 24 June. This eagerly anticipated festival lived up to its reputation, offering a variety of exciting activities for students to prioritise their mental and physical wellbeing.

The festival began on Friday evening with a delightful street food-style takeaway dinner. Students explored the vibrant Combermere Quad and Princes’ Quad, where they discovered pupil-led stalls featuring engaging activities like chess and cupcake decorating. This bustling atmosphere fostered camaraderie and allowed everyone to indulge in their passions while enjoying the delicious food on offer.

Later in the evening, the eagerly awaited GWA performance took place, featuring the comedic brilliance of Milton Jones and the mesmerising talents of Richard Jones. The performance captivated the audience, with students from the Third Form, Fourth Form and Lower Sixth attending, ensuring a night filled with laughter and awe-inspiring moments.

The following morning, the festival continued with a refreshing breakfast that energised everyone for the day ahead. Students then participated in a range of wellbeing activities designed to promote self-care and exploration. From yoga and outdoor swimming to drama games and mindful coloring, the festival offered diverse activities catering to different interests. Girls’ football sessions promoted inclusivity and encouraged participation from all, while the escape room provided an exciting mental challenge that fostered problem-solving skills and teamwork.

For those looking to relax and unwind, sessions in deep breathing and stretching allowed participants to reconnect with their bodies and find inner peace. The choir sessions provided a harmonious escape where students could express themselves through the power of music. And for the creatively inclined, knitting and origami workshops allowed for artistic expression and a sense of accomplishment.

As we reflect on the success of this year’s festival, it is clear that the Wellington College Wellbeing Festival has firmly established itself as an unmissable event on the school’s calendar. The memories created and the lessons learned during these two days will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the students, empowering them to embrace their wellbeing as an essential aspect of their lives.
